Italian RoastEvery day countless customers ask us which of our coffees we use to make our espresso drinks. Peaberry’s Italian Roast is used for very good reasons. To achieve a perfect espresso extraction it is vital that the blend be balanced in acidity, body, flavor characteristics and crema yielding components. Once the blend is formulated, the roast must be taken to just the right point (deep hazelnut color) to assure that we bring all these elements together. This very complex blend of Central Americans, in particular Costa Rica, along with Indonesian coffees including Aged Sumatra and a hint of African, produces an absolutely smooth, sweet, cup of contentment. |

French BlendNo, there is no coffee grown in France! French roast is a style of coffee and degree of roast. We roast French darker than any other coffee on our list to develop the sugars further in order to reach that “bittersweet” flavor realm before they begin to carbonize. Strictly Hard Bean (SHB) coffees are used and Papua New Guinea is a key component of the blend. For the French roast lover, you won’t find a smoother, fuller bodied cup. |

What is the best way to store coffee beans?
Storing coffee in whole bean in the freezer will maintain its freshness for up to a month. It is important to keep the beans in an airtight, light-tight container and return them to the freezer immediately after removing what you need for that serving. This prevents condensation, which quickly erodes the flavor value of the coffee.
If I buy pre-ground coffee and use it up in a week, would there really be any noticeable loss in flavor?
Buying what you need for a week and keeping it stored in an airtight, light-tight container, away from any heat or moisture makes sense because your roaster/coffee purveyor can give you a grind that is more consistent than what most people manage to produce in their home grinder. The large commercial burr grinders (Mahlkoenig) make each granule the same size, which results in a more uniform brew.
